The type locality of the Costa Rican Snaileater (Sibon lamari) is Guayacán de Siquirres, Limon Province, Costa Rica (Solorzano 2001), but subsequent reports are from Panama (Jaramillo A. et al. 2008; Sosa Bartuano and de la Cruz 2014). A new species of Sibon, placed in the Sibon annulatus species group, is described from the Mosquitia region of northeastern Honduras. Within this group, the new species appears most closely related to Sibon dimidiatus.
