Introduction

The basic construction and the materials for construction are described in guideline b4. This guideline shows the practical aspects and experience from the installation.

Components description

Vertical and Horizontal profile
Standard rectangular aluminum profile from the market
Main support structure for the BIPV modules.
Thickness : 3 mm

Spacer
Standard rectangular aluminum profile from the market same as above.
Spacers between horizontal profile and the modules.
Thickness : 3 mm

Connector
Standard UPE channel aluminum profile from the market.
Connectors for the horizontal profiles.
Thickness : 3 mm
Height : 86 mm

Cross bracing
Stainless steel blade for stability of the framework and placed at the start and the end of the framework.
Dimensions are to be defined during the construction

Self-drill stainless steel screw S-AD01S 5,5×19
Role: anchoring SL modules to the vertical profiles, the spacers and for cross bracing.
Screw diameter: 5.5 mm

Role: Anchoring spacers to horizontal profiles
Screw diameter: 5.5 mm

HEXAGON HEAD SCREW DIN933 M8L8 (L=80mm) with nuts
Role: anchoring horizontal to vertical profiles,
Connectors between horizontal profiles and vertical profiles to mounting pads.

Stainless steel blade  (pads)
Role: anchoring framework to base.
Thickness : 5 mm

Role: protection from rain water, dust of the profiles

Framework Installation

Skylight conditions: Around the skylight there must be a curtain wall from concrete.

Step-by-step installation

Step 1 – The stainless steel blades are to be fixed on the curtain wall, according to the following drawing.

Step 2 – The vertical profiles are cut to height according to the drawing below and are fixed with 2 hexagon screws to the pads.

Step 3 – The spacers are fixed with two Self-drill screw S-MD04S diagonally to the horizontal profiles.

Step 4 – With the use of a clamp the horizontal profiles are mounted on the vertical profiles starting from the one side and are fixed with 2 hexagon screws and nuts.

Step 5 – The horizontal profiles are interconnected in a series with use of the connector and 6 hexagon screws and nuts.

Step 6 – Fixing of the cross bracing to the start and the end of the framework with the use of Self-drill screws S-AD01S, for keeping the framework tight, limiting its movement. See picture above.
Step 7 – Placing of the modules at a pitch of 33 degrees and facing south. They are fixed with 2 Self-drill screws S-AD01S to the spacer and 1 to the vertical profiles. See picture above.
